Permanent Christmas Lights: Installed Once, Up Every December

One installation. Every December after that, you turn them on from your phone.

~6 million colors

Individually addressable LEDs — every diode can differ from the one beside it.

App controlled

10 movement modes, schedules, timers, brightness and independent zones.

UL-listed, 7-year warranty

Rated for 100,000 hours as permanent exterior hardware.

Every November the same decision comes around: climb the ladder yourself, or pay a crew to hang lights they will come back and take down in January.

Permanent Christmas lights end that cycle. A low-profile LED track is installed along your roofline once and stays there. In December you open an app and turn on red and green. In January you switch to a warm white and it goes back to reading as trim.

All Pro Gutter Guards installs these systems as an Oelo Authorized Dealer across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia. The track mounts to your fascia and gutter line — which is the part of your house we already work on.

What People Use It For

No ladder in December

The single most common reason homeowners buy these. Nobody is on a roof in freezing weather, and nobody is on one again in January.

It is not only Christmas

Halloween, Thanksgiving, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, July 4th — the same system runs all of them from presets.

A real light the rest of the year

Most owners run a warm architectural downlight the other eleven months. It stops being a holiday product and becomes exterior lighting.

Consistent, professional lines

The track follows the roofline exactly. No sagging strings, no gaps, no clips that let go in a January wind.

The honest math against hiring it out every year

This is the comparison that decides it for most people, so it is worth doing properly rather than hand-waving.

Professional seasonal light hanging is a recurring cost. You pay for installation in November and removal in January, every single year, and the price generally rises with roof height and complexity. Storage, replacement strings, and the occasional wind repair are on top of that.

A permanent system is one upfront cost, then effectively nothing. There is no annual install, no removal, no storage, and no restringing.

The crossover point depends on what you currently pay, but for most homeowners paying for professional hang-and-remove, a permanent system pays for itself in a handful of seasons — and after that it keeps working for the remaining life of a system rated at 100,000 hours. If you have been climbing the ladder yourself, the math is different and the honest argument is about risk and time rather than money.

Why these are not just Christmas lights

Traditional holiday strings are one color per bulb, up for six weeks, and in a box the rest of the year.

This system has individually addressable LEDs, roughly 6 million colors, and ten movement modes. Any given LED can be a different color than the one beside it, which is what allows alternating patterns, gradients, chases, and twinkle rather than a single flat color across the roof.

That capability is why the system does not sit idle in February. Warm white for everyday. Orange for Halloween. Green in March. Red, white and blue in July. Team colors on game day.

Safety — the reason most people actually call

Falls from ladders during holiday decorating send thousands of people to emergency rooms every season in the United States, and roofs in December are exactly the wrong combination: cold hands, icy surfaces, low light, and an awkward reach over a gutter.

If you have been doing this yourself into your sixties or seventies, or if you have a two- or three-story roofline, this is the argument that matters more than the cost comparison. The system removes the ladder from the equation permanently.

Installed on a roofline we inspect first

The track fastens to the fascia — the same board your gutters hang from. Seasonal decorating crews clip to a gutter lip for six weeks and leave. A permanent system is anchored hardware, and anchoring into soft or rotted fascia is a problem you will discover later rather than sooner.

We inspect the fascia, hangers, pitch, and gutter condition before anything is mounted. If it needs correcting, we quote it honestly and tell you before we start. If it is sound, we say that too and get on with the install.

Permanent Christmas Lights — FAQs

Can you really leave Christmas lights up all year?

These are not seasonal light strings left up — they are permanent exterior LED hardware, UL-listed and weather-rated for year-round installation. The covers are color-matched to your trim, so outside of the holidays the run reads as part of the roofline rather than as decorations you forgot to take down.

How is this different from stringing lights every year?

Three ways. It is installed once instead of annually. The LEDs are individually addressable, so you get patterns and any color rather than one fixed bulb color. And it is fastened hardware following the roofline exactly, instead of clips on a gutter lip that sag and let go.

What does it cost compared to paying someone every year?

A permanent system is a larger one-time cost, then effectively nothing ongoing. Seasonal hang-and-remove is a smaller cost that repeats every year and generally rises over time. For most homeowners already paying a crew, a permanent system pays for itself within several seasons. We quote your roofline specifically — the estimate is free and written.

Can I control it from my phone?

Yes. Colors, patterns, brightness, schedules, timers, and independent zones all run from the app. Most owners set a year-round schedule once and then override it for holidays.

Will it look like Christmas lights in the summer?

No. That is the design goal — covers are matched to your trim color so the track disappears against the house in daylight, and the everyday setting for most homeowners is a subtle warm white rather than anything festive.

What if a bulb goes out?

The LEDs are rated for 100,000 hours and the system carries a 7-year warranty. Sections are individually serviceable, so a single failure does not mean replacing an entire run.
