What are the signs you need new gutters?
Signs you need new gutters include cracks or splits, sagging or pulling away from the fascia, peeling exterior paint or rust stains, pooling water or eroded soil at the foundation, and frequent overflow. If gutters leak at the seams after repair, replacement is usually the better value.
Watch for a few clear signals: visible cracks or holes, sections sagging or separating from the house, rust and peeling paint on or below the gutters, and water marks or rotted fascia behind them. Outside, pooling water, eroded mulch, or a damp basement point to gutters that aren't carrying water away. Sectional gutters that leak repeatedly at the joints are often cheaper to replace with seamless than to keep patching. If your gutters are more than 20 years old and showing several of these signs, a free inspection will tell you whether targeted repair or full replacement makes more sense.
