Splash Block

Gutter Parts

A splash block is a sloped tray placed under a downspout outlet that disperses water and channels it away from the foundation, helping prevent erosion and basement moisture.

Where a downspout meets the ground, concentrated water can erode soil, splash back against the siding, and pool against the foundation — a leading cause of wet basements. A splash block (or a downspout extension) spreads and redirects that flow several feet away so the water sheds harmlessly. It's a small, inexpensive component that protects against expensive foundation and basement problems. Pairing clear gutters and properly sized downspouts with extensions or splash blocks completes the path that keeps roof water away from the house.
