Welcome to Pocono Pines, a charming census-designated place (CDP) located in the heart of Monroe County, Pennsylvania. With a population of 2,007, as of the 2020 United States Census, Pocono Pines is a growing community that combines natural beauty with a rich history. It's also where you'll find All Pro Gutter Guards, your trusted Gutter Guard contractor, ensuring your property is well-protected from the elements.
Pocono Pines is nestled in the Pocono Mountains, and its geographic beauty is a testament to the splendor of Pennsylvania's landscape. The CDP covers a total area of 4.4 square miles, with 9.95% of that area being water, giving residents and visitors ample opportunities to enjoy outdoor activities in a pristine environment.
Pocono Pines has a storied history that dates back to the late 19th century. Most of the land in this area was originally owned by the Miller family. Frank C. Miller and his brother Rufus W. Miller, along with others, formed the Pocono Spring Water Ice Company, which eventually led to the creation of "Lake Naomi." This picturesque lake, over a mile long and approximately one-third of a mile wide, became a focal point for recreational activities such as boating, skating, fishing, and ice cutting.
As Pocono Pines continued to evolve, visitors from metropolitan areas like New York City and Philadelphia started arriving in 1902. The first bathing beach was established, and parcels of land were subdivided for summer cottages. The area also saw the establishment of a Lutheran retreat called Lutherland, a sailing camp for girls, and a boathouse and beach on the site of today's Lake Naomi Clubhouse. In 1938, a significant Pennsylvania Supreme Court case, Miller v. Lutheran Conference & Camp Ass'n, took place over water rights to Lake Naomi, highlighting the growing importance of this idyllic lake.
In 1963, the Logan Steele family acquired 2,600 acres surrounding the lake, which later became the renowned Lake Naomi Club. Today, the club, owned by its members and governed by a board of governors, includes 1400 families who own property surrounding Lake Naomi. With its private beaches, marinas, sailing organization, pools, tennis courts, and full-service clubhouse, the Lake Naomi Club continues to be a hub of community life in Pocono Pines.
The story of Pocono Pines continues with the completion of a community center that lies directly across from Timber Trails, a branch off Lake Naomi, which opened in 2007. This center has become a gathering place for all community members to enjoy, adding to the vibrant spirit of this area.
