The industry, led by names like Medford Glass Works and Star Glass, employed around 250 workers at its peak. Although the glass-making operations ceased in the mid-1920s, the legacy remains, with well-maintained workers' homes and historic sites scattered throughout the township.
Medford is also home to Dr. James Still (1812–1882), a self-taught African-American physician known as "the Black Doctor of the Pines." His contributions to the community are commemorated at the Dr. James Still Historic Office Site and Education Center.
