All Pro Gutter Guards โ€” Trusted Since 2001

Gutter Experts Serving Elizabeth Township, PA

Elizabeth Township sits in north central Lancaster County, and our Lancaster office at 210 W Grant St is roughly 24 minutes and about 14 miles away by road, according to OpenStreetMap routing. Census figures count 1,465 housing units here, and 92 percent of them are single-family detached houses, which is the kind of roofline gutter work is built around. All Pro Gutter Guards installs the All Pro micro-mesh guard, forms seamless gutters on site, and handles repairs, replacement, cleaning and downspouts. Estimates are free, we answer 24/7, and we hold Pennsylvania license PA052821.

From Brickerville to Speedwell: where we work in Elizabeth Township

The township covers about 17.6 square miles of land, and the houses are spread across villages rather than one center. We take calls from Brickerville, the largest of them and a settlement that goes back to 1741 when the first blast furnace here began turning Cornwall ore into cast iron, and from Elm, Poplar Grove, Spring Lake Park and Speedwell, plus the slices of Halfville, Hopeland and Clay that fall inside the township line. Homes near the older sites, including the ground around Speedwell Forge and the Stiegel-Coleman House, tend to be the ones with the most gutter history. Where mature trees still overhang a roof, leaf and seed debris is what fills a trough first, and that is usually the job we are called for. At about 24 minutes out from Grant Street, a site visit is straightforward.

A 1974 median build year, and what it does to Elizabeth Township gutters

Census estimates put the median construction year for township homes at 1974, so the typical house here is a half-century old. About 35 percent were built before 1960 and 18 percent before 1940, which means a real share of the roofs in Brickerville and Elm still carry sectional or half-round gutters on fascia boards that have been holding fasteners for decades. On those houses we check the wood before anything else, since a guard is only as solid as what the gutter hangs from. Repair or replacement with seamless gutter formed on site often makes more sense than patching another seam. Only 11 percent of township homes date from 2000 or later, and those newer builds more often need a downspout added than a full replacement. Owner occupancy runs 86 percent, so most decisions are made by the people living under the roof.

Rain, ice and snow loads on Elizabeth Township roofs

The NOAA station at Lancaster Airport, roughly 12 kilometers from the township, records about 42 inches of precipitation a year and close to 10 days annually with heavy rain. Those heavy days are what overwhelm an undersized trough or a single downspout on a long run, so sizing and discharge points matter more here than raw gutter length. The same station records about 109 nights a year at or below freezing. That freeze and thaw cycle is how ice dams form at the eave, and it is why a guard has to shed meltwater and carry weight without deforming. The Landisville station about 16 kilometers away averages roughly 23 inches of snow per season, another load the guard and its hangers have to hold through winter.

Elizabeth Township Gutter Questions

Do you cover the smaller villages in Elizabeth Township, or just Brickerville?

We cover the whole township, which includes Brickerville, Elm, Poplar Grove, Spring Lake Park and Speedwell, along with the portions of Halfville, Hopeland and Clay that sit inside the township boundary. The drive from our Lancaster office at 210 W Grant St is about 14 miles and roughly 24 minutes, so distance within the township's 17.6 square miles is not an obstacle. Call (717) 510-1466 for a free estimate.

With about 109 freezing nights a year, will guards cause ice problems on my roof?

The freeze count comes from the NOAA station at Lancaster Airport, about 12 kilometers from the township, and it is the reason we look at the whole eave, not just the gutter. Ice dams form when meltwater refreezes at the edge. Our micro-mesh guard is installed to let water pass and to hold up under the roughly 23 inches of snow the Landisville station records each season.

My Elizabeth Township house was built before 1940. Can it take gutter guards?

Usually yes, but the fascia comes first. Census estimates show 18 percent of township homes predate 1940 and 35 percent predate 1960, so loose hangers and soft wood behind the gutter are common on those houses. We inspect the board and the existing gutter, repair or replace what will not hold, and often clean the system before any guard goes on.

After inquiring about a gutter cleaning, they sent a tech out to get an estimate of the job. Can't recall his name as he didn't even introduce himself, and was very blunt & impersonal. Quoted $850 for a simple cleaning.. its a very standard size row home. Had it cleaned by another local company for $180. I cannot speak to the quality of their work - I'm sure they do a good job, but I cannot help but feel an attempt was made to take advantage. Very surprising & disappointing as they have such good reviews.

My husband and I Love This Gutter System. The 2 installers were on time and Very efficient working in tandem. Fun to talk with and lighthearted. I have rain barrels, and the gentlemen were so helpful in making adjustments for me when I have to tear down the barrels for winter weather and put the length of downspout back on again. 5โ€ Gutters with Titanium rain leaf guard system has lifetime warranty also transferable to next owner. Picture is the Titanium Leaf guard.
